The trees are full this year......

After sunset, deer wander into the yard to take their pick of the fallen pears from the trees
loaded branches. And the kids heard that the elk at a nearby State Park love apples.

Indeed, they do!

Moments in Time

Today she played dress-up.
My animated little granddaughter prances and dances around the back yard,
flirtatious and shy when her Daddy tells
her how pretty his favorite little girl looks.

A fleeting 20-some years from now my son is going to think back to this picture as he's standing next to her in the back of a church and I promise you.......

......it's going to make him cry.

Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!

Allllllll RIGHT!!!!!!!
Bucky got good reports!!!!
Awesome.

GARDEN NERD

If you knew JUST how excited I am about the little peppers that I grew this year, you'd think I was a complete garden nerd. Sigh. Guilty as charged. I don't even LIKE peppers. But I love growing them and am so impressed with my own efforts this year, sometimes I go outside and stare at them for the longest time, just because I think they are so darn cute.

Keeping that in mind, you won't be surprised to
hear that I screamed out loud this afternoon, making
my neighbor think a wasp had stung me or something,
when I saw the magic that had appeared....seemingly
overnight....in the neighboring pot on the other side of the patio.

Just take a look at this!!!!!!!
See him tucked in there behind the leaves??

Yup. My very first eggplant.
About the size of a golfball, peeking out of the little pod where it had started growing.
Isn't he CUTE as the dickens???

I know.
Nerd.

Good Morning, Sunshine!

This is my favorite drive-up window lady.

She's got long, painted fingernails that she clicks so loud on the cash register, I can hear her tap-tapping my order into place over the speaker from which she talks to me every morning. She's perky, she's snappy and she's real efficient. She's got the whole process down to a ratty-tat-tat science and it gets to me every time. I can't help but drive away from her window giggling.

I love her. She's just fun. And she's got a great good morning message......

Happy Birthday to me,

Happy Birthday to me!!!!!

Somewhere between here and junior high school all three of my kids have given up eating Spaghettio's cold, straight out of the can and become fine cooks. They all know how to saute, blacken and use truffle oil. I don't cook much anymore so it's a huge treat for me when I get an invitation from them. Last week David treated all of us to dinner at his place to celebrate my birthday.

We started out with bruschetta of cappacola and boursin,
seared steak and steamed clams with wine sauce
and a cool little frozen dessert that looked
like something out of a magazine.
Mmmm ohhh mmm, it was mighty fine dinin'.

As you can see, we're a serious group.

And I'm a lucky birthday Mama
